The famous Giant Lantern Festival (GLF) from none other than the Culinary and Christmas capital of the Philippines, the province of Pampanga, is set to light up and color the world of three Robinsons malls in a caravan to be seen from October to November 2017.
The said exhibit aims to show a preview of what will be this year’s festival looks like as people will see mini-replicas of the giant parols.
The Giant Lantern Festival Caravan 2017 was seen last October 20 to 22 at Robinsons Magnolia, it is expected to be spotted on its next destination at Robinsons Antipolo from November 03 to 05 and its last stop would be at Robinsons Galleria on November 10 to 12.
Aside from the display of the gigantic lantern’s mini replicas, lantern sale made from the City of San Fernando and other exclusive GLF merchandise will also be showcase in the exhibit.
Tourists are also advised to sign up for the Giant Lantern Tours at Robinsons Antipolo and Robinsons Galleria to complete the Giant Lantern experience by meeting the Fernandino lantern makers, getting a deep understanding of the City of San Fernando parols, and also to meet the 20ft. Giant Lanterns during the competition or one of the nightly exhibitions until January 2.
The GLF is an annual festival held every December from the City of San Fernando, Pampanga in which a competition between 10 to 12-foot high lanterns, with standing lantern-making traditions, that were made by different barangays from the said urban area.
The said event intends to recognize the significance of lantern-making industry and is also helping local tourism and craftsmanship of the local craftsmen and artisans.
The province of Pampanga also gained its title of being the “Christmas Capital of the Philippines” because of the festival.
This year’s GLF will be held on December 16 on its usual venue at Robinson’s Starmills Pampanga.
