The newly inaugurated state-of-the-art computer laboratories in public schools across Angeles City have been lauded as “world-class,” setting a new benchmark in educational facilities within the region.
Enrile Lerit, an experienced Information Communication and Technology (ICT) teacher and coordinator at Angeles City National Trade School (ACNTS), expressed his amazement at the advanced technology now available to students. With extensive experience in teaching both in the Philippines and abroad, Lerit noted that the new facilities surpass even those he encountered while teaching in Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
“As a teacher with years of experience, including time spent working abroad, this is the first time I’ve seen a public school equipped with such advanced technology. The new computer laboratory here at ACNTS is truly world-class,” Lerit shared. He further attributed the realization of this project to the leadership and initiative of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., stating, “These computer laboratories provided by our city government were made possible because of Mayor Pogi’s initiative.”
Jefferson Karagdag, Principal of Northville 15 Integrated School, another beneficiary of the new computer labs, highlighted the significance of this development in preparing students for the digital era. “These computer labs are crucial because, in today’s world, our students need to have 21st-century skills. The ICT laboratories provided by the mayor play a significant role in equipping our students for the future,” Karagdag emphasized.
Similarly, Vernie Sapnu, a computer science teacher at Angeles City National High School, pointed out how the new facilities align with the goals of the Matatag curriculum, particularly in fostering computer literacy among students. “The goal of developing 21st-century skills among students will be easier to achieve, thanks to these newly built computer laboratories. All students will now have the opportunity for hands-on experience,” Sapnu explained.
Elmer Dayrit, Principal of ACNTS, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Lazatin’s administration for prioritizing the ICT laboratories project. He noted that the new facilities will be put to good use by both students and teachers, with parents also voicing their satisfaction at the school’s state-of-the-art ICT capabilities.
Mayor Lazatin personally led the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the four new computer laboratories across the city’s public schools on August 6-7, 2024. The state-of-the-art facilities were funded by the city government as part of Mayor Lazatin’s ICT Modernization Program, a key campaign promise aimed at enhancing the quality of education through technology.
These world-class computer laboratories represent a significant leap forward for public education in Angeles City, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the demands of the digital age.
