SM malls across Pampanga actively participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on June 19, 2025. The initiative aimed to promote disaster awareness and improve emergency response skills among the public.
The drill was closely monitored by representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), who ensured the smooth implementation of safety protocols and guided mall participants throughout the simulation. Tenants, affiliates, and mall employees took part in the drill, practicing the standard safety procedure of “Drop, Cover, and Hold” at exactly 9:00 AM.
This quarterly nationwide exercise underscores the importance of disaster preparedness not just in schools and government institutions, but also in the private sector and commercial establishments. By integrating emergency response training into the workplace, SM reinforces a culture of readiness and safety consciousness among its staff and patrons.
“SM’s participation in the NSED reflects our deep commitment to creating safe spaces for everyone who walks through our doors. Preparedness saves lives—and drills like this empower our communities to respond with calm and confidence during emergencies,” said one of the mall’s safety representatives.
Through regular involvement in national disaster readiness efforts, SM continues to serve as a proactive partner in building a more resilient Pampanga—where safety is always a top priority.
