Christmas is the season of giving and the Sangguniang Bayan ng Mexico (SB Mexico) helps spread holiday cheer by holding its 2nd year of gift giving project entitled “Handug Lugud Karing Kayanakan 2017”.
The SB Mexico gave tribute to 30 outstanding grade 6 students from different elementary schools of the municipality who excelled in different fields like academics, journalism, arts, and athletics. The event was held at the Municipal Conference room, Mexico Municipal Hall, last December 19, 2017.
The students were awarded certificate of recognition together with Christmas packs (Noche Buena package) in addition the Sangguniang Bayan members headed by Vice Mayor, Hon. Jonathan Pangan, gave them aguinaldo.
On top of the recognition and gifts given by the SB office Jollibee Mexico Branch, Kionchan, LionhearTV, Mode Devi Publishing, Inc., and Insight 360 made the event more fun by giving away Jolly Spaghetti meal pack, crepe, rice packs, mosquito repellents, and lunch boxes, respectively.
During the program Vice Mayor Pangan gave an inspiring message, encouraging the students to continue studying hard to achieve their dreams.
“Ali yu gagawang hadlang ing kasakitan ning bie para miunlad kayu, male yu ikayu ing maging susunud a Vice Mayor ning Mexico” says Vice Mayor Pangan.
One of the awardees was, top 3 and grade 6 student, John Benedict D. Panlican of Panipuan Elementary School. John Benedict didn’t let the death of her mother hinder him from being good in school and even in other curricular activities. John Benedict dreams of becoming an architect in the future.
Indeed the event was a day of appreciation, love, and sharing. The Sangguniang Bayan ng Mexico is grateful to the generosity of Jollibee Mexico Branch, Kionchan, LionhearTV, Mode Devi Publishing, Inc., and Insight 360 for spreading joy to the deserving kids.
SB Mexico aims to make this event a yearly tradition to reach more outstanding students like John Benedict and inspire other students to be excellent in school.
