Porac is a town who literally took beauty from ashes.
This municipality was first known for being one of the most affected towns in Pampanga during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in June 15, 1991 because some portion of the said volcano was located in the town.
However, rocks, lava and ashes didn’t take down Porac, instead the town used this materials to become even more beautiful despite the catastrophe.
The town of Porac is an undeniably perfect place for adventure seekers, nature lovers and soul finders.
According to history, the name “Porac” was derived from the word “Purac”, a kind of tree which was abundant then in the town and was encountered by the first settlers.
It was also believed to be the first town established in Pampanga.
Meanwhile, the former Provincial Surveyor Don Ramon N. Orozco in 1879 called the river in this place “Poraq River” in his sketch of the nearby town of Floridablanca.
Poraq later then became what is now known as Porac in September 16, 1867.

Some of the tourist attractions this town is very proud of are Sandbox, Poracay Resort, Miyamit Falls, churches like Santa Catalina de Alejandria Church, Pio Chapel and Hacienda Dolores Chapel.

Cabalens travel mostly south just to see waterfalls not knowing that they have their own waterfall called the Miyamit Falls located only at Porac.
Around 30 minutes of trek at the Porac Trail, an alternate trail leading to the Pinatubo Crater Lake, you will find the undiscovered paradise of Pampanga, the Miyamit Falls.
It has a strong and powerful current that fill a basin of clean and cool water perfect for swimming activity for family and friends.

This municipality also have Poracay resort, which has good amenities and fun activities that a resort can offer like kayak and fishing, zipline, overnight stay at hotels and pools for all ages.

Much has been said, Porac was also a town known for beautiful and historical churches built during the Spanish era like the Santa Catalina de Alejandria Church, Pio Chapel and Hacienda Dolores Chapel.
Aside from attractions and fun activites, the town also offers Binulu festival which usually happens every November of the year.

The Binulu Festival which started in 2005 highlights the cooking of rice and viands such as fish, pork, chicken and other seafood stuffed and traditionally cooked together by Aetas using a variety of bamboo called bulu.
The said festival aims to create a sense of community, as participants represent their barangays and would have to come up with a binulu dish with the help of the community.
Porac is a hidden paradise town and a perfect place for a quick getaway with nature, family and friends.
