As the 2025 National and Local Elections draw near, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Central Luzon, in partnership with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the National Youth Commission (NYC), has launched an initiative to empower young voters.
Through the Kilos Kabataan: Makibahagi sa Halalan 2025 virtual forum, students from National University Clark and the University of the Assumption gained insights into electoral processes, responsible voting, and their crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.
COMELEC Pampanga Provincial Election Supervisor Lydia Florentino-Pangilinan emphasized that young voters make up nearly 50-60% of the total electorate, making their participation essential in electing leaders who drive meaningful change.
She urged young voters to evaluate candidates based on their track record rather than political dynasties, reminding them that their votes can create a significant impact. Meanwhile, PIA Assistant Regional Head Carlo Lorenzo Datu highlighted the historical importance of voting, stressing that it is both a right and a responsibility.
With the introduction of a new Automated Election System, COMELEC is ensuring a more secure and efficient voting process. However, challenges like vote-buying persist, and young voters are encouraged to reject such practices and vote with integrity.
The forum also encouraged youth involvement beyond voting—through campaign volunteerism, spreading accurate information, and engaging in meaningful discussions about national issues.
Kapampangan youth, the power to shape the future is in your hands. Make your vote count this 2025!
