The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is intensifying efforts to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Central Luzon through digitalization, financing access, franchising, and mentorship programs.
During the Philippine Information Agency’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas 2025, DTI Regional Director Edna Dizon shared key strategies designed to empower entrepreneurs.
One of the major initiatives is the shift to digital platforms, including the online Business Name and Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) registration systems, which have already achieved an 88% online registration rate. DTI also actively promotes artificial intelligence (AI) applications to help MSMEs establish a strong presence in the digital economy.
Franchising is also being encouraged as a practical business model, simplifying entrepreneurship for those looking to invest in ready-made enterprises. DTI facilitates business-matching events and workshops to help MSMEs explore franchising opportunities.
Additionally, DTI promotes business diversification by assisting MSMEs in onboarding e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok. This move expands market reach and boosts sales potential.
Entrepreneurs can also take advantage of Negosyo Centers, which offer counseling, training, and access to financial resources. Through financing programs and mentorship initiatives like the Kapatid Mentor Me Enterprise program, DTI continues to foster sustainable business growth in the region.
With these strategies in place, the agency urges entrepreneurs to tap into available programs to enhance their businesses and create a more resilient MSME sector in Central Luzon.
