Cebuana Lhuillier Iponventure Program Brings Global Honor for Filipino Savers
Cebuana Lhuillier Bank’s Iponventure Program has earned international recognition after winning the Best CSR Initiative at the 2025 Globee Awards. The program, launched in 2024, was designed to make saving simple and accessible for every Filipino.
A subsidiary of PJ Lhuillier Inc., Cebuana Lhuillier Bank created Iponventure to encourage small, consistent savings among Filipinos from all walks of life. Two key tools drove the program’s success: the IPONBOX and the Micro Savings Account.
Over 700,000 households received their own IPONBOX, a simple savings container that served as a daily reminder to set money aside. The Micro Savings Account, which required only ₱50 to open, opened doors for millions previously excluded from formal banking.
Iponventure became more than a banking program. It became a national movement. Events like the Jumbo Travelling IPONBOX, Cebuana Lhuillier Savings Day, and surprise branch activations made saving engaging and fun. Partnerships with financial influencers helped spread the message across the country.
By the end of 2024, the program had surpassed expectations with more than 1.1 million Micro Savings Accounts opened. IPONBOX users showed better saving habits and higher average balances. These changes meant more families with emergency funds and more Filipinos with growing financial confidence.
Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, said the award affirms the company’s long-term mission. “This recognition proves our commitment to help Filipinos build financial discipline and achieve stability,” he shared.
The Globee Awards celebrate global innovation and measurable social impact. For Cebuana Lhuillier Bank, the honor reflects a deeper belief: that banking should serve people first and empower them to take charge of their financial future.
