Fête de la Musique is celebrating its 30th year in the Philippines with a spectacular array of performances across more than 100 stages nationwide. This global music festival, originating from France, promises a month-long musical extravaganza, featuring hundreds of artists in various regions, including Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Zambales, Baguio, Baler, Bicol, Mindoro, Palawan, Masbate, Cebu, Siargao, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and South Cotabato.

The Philippine edition of Fête de la Musique, known as FDLM or Fête PH, is organized by Alliance Française de Manille, B-Side Productions, FunkyBeat Entertainment, and the Embassy of France to the Philippines. This year marks a significant milestone, with the festival expanding to over 100 stages for the first time, nearly doubling the previous year’s 50 stages.
Giselle Tomimbang of B-Side Productions, a co-producer of Fête PH, highlighted the festival’s broader reach this year, emphasizing the inclusion of more regions. She noted that this expansion is due to the enthusiastic participation from various locales, particularly in the South, with Davao hosting a nine-day celebration.
Originating in Paris on June 21, 1982, Fête de la Musique has grown into a global phenomenon, celebrated in 120 countries. The Philippine festivities began on June 16 with a pre-Fête “Music Heals” event at Ayala Triangle Gardens, featuring a Medicine Music Circle, Ecstatic Dance, and Sound Bath led by Lee Grane Musiq. This initiative underscores the festival’s commitment to promoting music as a source of healing and well-being.
Noe Fuentes, cultural coordinator at Alliance Française de Manille, expressed hopes for a larger turnout this year compared to the pre-pandemic celebrations. The festival aims to engage a new generation of music lovers, while also resonating with long-time attendees.
Since its inception in 1994, when it attracted just 40 people through physical posters and flyers, Fête PH has embraced online promotion to reach a wider audience. The main event, featuring a lineup of Filipino artists, will be held at Greenbelt 3 park on June 21. The celebration will include performances by SHANNi, Jason Dhakal x Lustbass, Sinosikat x Jose Miguel, Dwata, Jewelmer Jazz Band, Any Name’s Okay, Morobeats, Autotelic, and Dilaw. French act Pfel & Greem of C2C will also perform, fostering French-Filipino cultural exchange.

This year’s lineup includes over 41 stages in Makati City’s Poblacion district alone, featuring diverse genres such as blues, soul, funk, acoustic, rock, and reggae. New additions include the Medicine Music Stage and the Kirtan Stage, in line with the “Music Heals” theme.
From June 21 to 29, the festival will reach various destinations across the Philippines, including first-timer Siquijor and El Nido, which will host multiple stages. This nationwide celebration reflects the festival’s adaptation during the pandemic and its embrace of virtual music events to connect with audiences.
Fête PH also features SONIK Philippines, returning for the second SONIK SESSIONS FETE, a conference focused on the Philippine music ecosystem. The SONIK SOIREE on June 22 at Astbury will include Gwen Sharp of The Green Room France.
