SM Sensory Lab Mall of Asia brings calm, comfort, and inclusive malling to every Filipino

SM Mall of Asia will soon open the first SM Sensory Lab in the country. This new space will support individuals with sensory sensitivities. It will also elevate SM’s mission to make malling safe, calm, and inclusive for all.

The SM Sensory Lab Mall of Asia gives families a quiet space to rest. You will find soft lighting. You will hear a peaceful environment. You will see organized zones that remove clutter. These choices help visitors slow down their senses and recover from overstimulation. The Lab also has soft seating, calming tools, and tactile items that help with emotional regulation.

SM worked with the DSWD, the National Council on Disability Affairs, and the Autism Society Philippines to build this space. These partners helped shape an environment that respects the sensory needs of people with autism, sensory processing disorder, and anxiety disorder. The Lab stays free to access for children and adults. A guardian or caregiver must accompany them.

Visual supports and schedules guide visitors during their stay. These tools help lower stress and give structure. Families can use the Lab any time they need a break from noise, crowds, or strong lights.

SM Supermalls President Steven Tan shared that the Sensory Lab reflects SM’s vision of care. He said the company wants every visitor to feel safe and supported. He also said that SM Mall of Asia will lead the rollout of sensory inclusive spaces across more SM malls.

This project aligns with SM’s push for inclusive malling as the company marks 40 years of serving Filipinos. SM continues to expand its malls and evolve its spaces with comfort, accessibility, and community care in mind. The Sensory Lab marks another step toward a malling experience that respects your needs and your pace.
