Over 100 farmers from the municipalities of Guagua and Santa Rita in Pampanga have graduated from the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) on Sustainable Agriculture Program, marking a significant milestone in the province’s move toward resilient and community-based farming practices.

The graduation ceremony was held on June 25 at the SM City Pampanga Event Center, celebrating the farmers’ completion of the intensive training that focused on sustainable agriculture and urban gardening.

This initiative was made possible through a multi-sectoral collaboration between the SM Foundation, Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Tourism (DOT), the local government units of Santa Rita and Guagua, BDO Network Bank, and the St. Isidore the Farmer Learning Center, Inc.

In her congratulatory message, Cristie Angeles, SM Foundation’s Vice President for Livelihood and Outreach Programs, highlighted the vital role of sustainable farming in uplifting rural communities and ensuring food security. “The KSK program is more than just skills training—it is a stepping stone toward entrepreneurship, food sufficiency, and inclusive growth,” she shared.

Since its inception in 2007, the KSK Program has been a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effort of SM Foundation, benefitting thousands of farmers nationwide by equipping them with modern, science-based farming techniques and entrepreneurial knowledge.

With the rising need for climate-resilient and sustainable food systems, the program continues to be a beacon of hope for Filipino farmers, empowering them to grow not only crops but their own futures.
