Kapitbisig, Kapitbahay! 7-Eleven Joins Earth Hour By Turning Off Lights in Over 4000 Stores Nationwide

In its 40 years of service, 7-Eleven has turned into more than just a store—it has become a trusted kapitbahay that you can count on, especially when it comes to bringing the community together for a greater cause. As it amplifies its commitment to a better, greener future for everyone, it’s once again set to join millions of individuals and companies all over the world for Earth Hour 2025.

On March 22, 2025, the lights will be turned off in over 4000 7-Eleven stores across the country from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Customers can be assured that all stores will remain open and fully operational throughout the duration of Earth Hour.

This decision plays an integral role in the brand’s broader efforts to prioritize eco-conscious practices for the environment. Aside from inviting Filipinos to join in, it’s also calling for every kapitbahay to make Earth Hour every hour with its ongoing sustainability initiatives.

This year, 7-Eleven launched the Good Coffee, Good Habits campaign, which motivates customers to bring their own reusable cups or tumblers on their daily coffee run. By doing so, they’re able to save P5 on their coffee while playing their role in saving the planet as well. In line with this effort to reduce waste, the store has also been implementing a Bring Your Own Bag policy for the past few years. Every Wednesday, customers are asked to tote eco bags when shopping at a 7-Eleven store to lessen paper use.

These eco-friendly initiatives extend beyond in-store policies with the brand integrating sustainable practices in its overall operations too. By collaborating with stakeholders and supplier-partners, 7-Eleven is constantly developing programs to cut down on food waste and plastic usage. Additionally, in 2024, a new store was erected in Friendship Highway, Angeles, Pampanga, housing major favorites like 21TOGO chicken, along with drinks and pastries from !+? Cafe Reserve. But more than its offerings, the branch stands out as it was built to harness renewable energy through solar panels.

As it continues to pursue environmentally sound routes to help secure a greener tomorrow, 7-Eleven joins hands with every Filipino in taking small but important steps to secure a greener tomorrow together.
