SM continues to uphold its commitment to inclusive growth by providing immediate assistance to underserved communities during crises. Through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, SM Foundation, the company has conducted 783 relief missions and distributed 982,415 Kalinga Packs, solidifying its role as a key partner in disaster response and recovery.

In 2024, SM Foundation collaborated with SM Supermalls and SM Markets to conduct 41 Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) initiatives, distributing over 108,000 Kalinga Packs. OPTE delivers essential supplies such as medicines, food, and water to communities affected by natural calamities.

“The SM Group, through SM Foundation, has been working directly with communities to provide much-needed assistance during disasters by leveraging our corporate assets,” said Debbie Sy, SM Foundation Executive Director.

Committed to its advocacy in promoting quality education, the SM Foundation inaugurated a school building at the San Fernando South Central Integrated School in San Fernando, La Union in 2024.

Beyond relief operations, SM Foundation also supports long-term community resilience through education. In 2024, it inaugurated a new school building at San Fernando South Central Integrated School in La Union. Since its first large-scale disaster response during Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, the Foundation has expanded its programs to include healthcare, livelihood, and shelter initiatives.

To date, SM Foundation has built 110 school buildings and over 370 classrooms, ensuring that education remains accessible even during crises. By working closely with affected communities, SM remains dedicated to fostering resilience and sustainable development.
