NLEX Corporation continues to enhance the driving experience for motorists through a series of road improvement projects across its expressway network.
As part of its commitment to maintaining high-quality infrastructure, the tollway company allocates a portion of toll fees toward asset maintenance, which includes refurbishment, restoration, and aesthetic enhancements. These efforts ensure that roads remain in excellent condition, contributing to a safer and more convenient journey for motorists.
NLEX Officer-in-Charge and Chief Financial Officer Maria Theresa Wells emphasized the importance of proactive maintenance. “Ensuring safety and convenience is essential for providing a high-quality customer experience. While our routine inspections and repairs help prevent serious road issues, our comprehensive annual maintenance program helps enhance the quality of the roads,” she stated.
Currently, the company’s heavy pavement maintenance program is underway, with the Bocaue-Burol stretch already completed. Asphalt overlays on specific sections of NLEX and SCTEX are ongoing, while minor damages will be addressed through patching.
Additional improvements include repainting of key infrastructure elements such as bridge parapets, toll plaza barriers, and concrete dividers. The installation of new road signs is set for completion by May, alongside upgrades to toll booths. Restoration works on guardrails and fences are also progressing to reinforce security and prevent unauthorized access to the expressway.
NLEX Corporation has also completed retrofitting works on 42 bridges, further strengthening the expressway’s structural integrity. Meanwhile, repairs on the expansion joints of the Marilao River Bridge are scheduled for completion by March 2025.
